Yu Lijie, with the courtesy name Miaode, was born in Changchun in 1972. He received court training at a young age and enjoyed studying calligraphy and painting. In addition to his studies, he continued to study in Linchi and excelled in Zhao style calligraphy. He was appointed as the former president of the Chinese Academy of Painting and Calligraphy under the Ministry of Culture, and was praised as the "soul of bamboo" by the renowned calligrapher and painter and the chairman of the Art Association, Jin Shangyi. Yang Guocan studied painting diligently.
