Xu Benyi (1946 -), born in Shanghai, originally came from Zheng County, Zhejiang Province. He has successively served as the secretary-general and vice-chairman of Hubei Calligrapher's Association, the vice-chairman of the calligraphy newspaper office, and is now the director of the Chinese Calligrapher's Association, the member of the Creation Evaluation Committee of the Chinese Calligrapher's Association, and the member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Calligrapher's Association. He has successively served as the Secretary General, Vice Chairman of Hubei Calligraphers Association, Vice President of Calligraphy Newspaper, Member of Hubei Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Director of Hubei Association for Foreign Cultural Exchanges. He is now a member of the Creation Evaluation Committee of the Chinese Calligrapher and National Calligrapher's Association, a member of the Fine Arts Committee of the Chinese Calligrapher's Association, the president of the Hubei Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and a national first-class artist. Calligraphy works have participated in previous national calligraphy and seal cutting works exhibitions, previous national young and middle-aged calligraphers' and seal cutting works exhibitions, as well as China Japan representative calligraphers' works exhibitions, international calligraphy invitational exhibitions, Chinese calligraphy elite works exhibitions, Paris • Modern Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition and other large calligraphy exhibitions at home and abroad. His works are published in more than 100 kinds of publications, such as Selected Works of Contemporary Famous Calligraphers, Hundred Contemporary Calligraphers and Painters, The Essence of Contemporary Yanhuang Calligraphy and Painting, and Zhongnanhai Collection of Calligraphy; Chinese Calligraphy, Calligraphy, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Calligraphy Daily, People's Daily Overseas Edition, Beijing Weekly and other dozens of publications introduced their calligraphy skills.
