Mo Yan, real name Guan Moye, male, born on February 17, 1955 in Ping'an Village, Heya Township, Gaomi County, Weifang City, Shandong Province (now Dalan Ping'an Village, Northeast Township Cultural Development Zone, Gaomi City), is a contemporary Chinese writer and a member of the Communist Party of China. I am currently a professor at Beijing Normal University, director of the International Writing Center, a distinguished professor at Hebei University, and a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Arts. In October 2012, he became the first Chinese Nobel Prize winner in Literature.
In 1966, he dropped out of school and returned to his hometown to graze cattle and sheep. In August 1973, I worked as a farmer contract worker at the Fifth Cotton Oil Factory in Gaomi County. In February 1976, he joined the military and held positions such as soldier, squad leader, instructor, and secretary. In 1978, literary creation began. In 1981, he published his debut short story "Spring Night Rain Dries", showcasing his literary talent. In September 1984, he was admitted to the Literature Department of the former PLA Academy of Arts. In 1985, he published his famous novella "The Transparent Carrot". In 1986, he published a novella titled 'Red Sorghum', which caused a sensation in the literary world. In 1987, "Red Sorghum" was adapted by Zhang Yimou into a film of the same name, with Mo Yan serving as the screenwriter. In 1988, 'Red Sorghum' won the Golden Bear Award at the West Berlin International Film Festival; In the same year, he published a novel titled "Song of Garlic Stalks in Heaven". In 1989, he published a novel called "The Grass Eating Family". In 1993, he published a novel called "The Country of Wine". In 1996, he published a novel titled 'Breast and Hip Enhancement'. In 1999, the novel "Mangrove" was published. In 2001, he published a novel called "Sandalwood Punishment". In 2003, he published the novel "Forty One Cannons". In 2006, he published a novel titled 'Life and Death Fatigue'. In 2009, the novel "Frog" was published. In 2016, he was elected as the Vice Chairman of the 9th Plenary Committee of the Chinese Writers' Association. In 2019, he created the novel "Waiting for Moses". In November 2019, we co founded "Two Bricks Ink News" with Wang Zhen. On July 31, 2020, a collection of short and medium stories titled 'Late Mature People' was published. On April 14, 2021, he was awarded the honorary Doctor of Literature by the University of Hong Kong.
