Wang Xuezhong (October 23, 1925- October 8, 2013), with the name "Night Park" and the names "Wengweng" and "Wenzi", was born in Dongningjia Village, Baogou Town, Tengzhou, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. A renowned contemporary thinker, educator, founder of Zengxue, renowned poet, calligrapher and painter, founder of modern literati painting, and former Vice Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
Wang Xuezhong was admitted to the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting at Jinghua Academy of Fine Arts in 1942. In January 1949, he studied in the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting at the National Beiping Art College. In 1952, he became a teacher in the Art Teaching and Research Office of the Department of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University. Joined the 93 Society in 1980. In September 1981, he was invited as a visiting professor by the Art Department of Tsukuba University in Japan. Wang Xuezhong advocates that the creation and development of poetry, literature, calligraphy, and painting should be rooted in national soil, focus on contemporary consciousness, and advocate the concept of "European style and Han bone, Eastern learning and Western learning". He has a lofty realm, is unique, and his creative power practices the academic style of "promoting our national style, inspiring our people's souls, seeking my fashion, and writing my embrace". Wang Xuezhong's main works include "Essentials of Calligraphy", "Chinese Painting Studies", and "Wang Xuezhong's Art Theory". He has won awards such as the Lu Xun Literature and Art Award, the World Peace Culture Award, and the Plastic Arts Achievement Award. On October 8, 2013, Wang Xuezhong passed away due to illness.
