Cai Yundi, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, with the stage name Shi Yun and the hall name "Shi Yi Zhai", was born in Mudu Town, Suzhou, the hometown of stone carving. She is the fourth generation descendant of the carving family. I have loved art since I was young, and under the influence of my grandfather and predecessors in carving art, I persistently pursued the art of stone carving, jade carving, and brick carving. On the basis of inheriting my grandfather's carving of the four famous inkstones in China, I established a new category of stone pot carving in the early 1980s, and worked hard for more than 40 years, forming my own unique artistic style.
